“Dis here be da story of a little black boy, who grew up to be a white man trap’d in a black man body…or so he thought.” So, begins our journey as guided and performed by the playwright/actor, tony sanders. This honest, revealing and at times, funny autobiographical work follows the actor’s life from the inner-city of Philadelphia to the suburbs of South Jersey and beyond. This heartfelt tale of an African American in search of his identity serves as a hilarious cautionary reminder of the difference between integration and assimilation. Storytelling, spoken word, and stand-up are combined in this modern-day take on the minstrel show.
